Natural mineral building materials such as gravel, sand and crushed aggregates are important raw materials with considerable demand from the construction industry. In Germany, demand per capita and year amounts to more than seven tonnes of minerals for creation of housing or infrastructure projects, for example. Regulatory framework

The use of incinerator bottom ash (IBA) in earthworks and road construction is governed by the German requirements of the Secondary Aggregate Directive (EBV). When it enters into force on 1 August 2023, it will replace the previous federal rules for the recycling of secondary mineral materials.

Monitored quality

The regular quality surveillance of secondary aggregates such as GRANOVA IBA serves as proof of compliance with environmental specifications and technical requirements.
